After a month of looking at things in my life a little differently and trying to work out how not to be overwhelmed by it all, I have finally made a few decisions.
I have stepped down as a moderator over at the Down To Earth forum (hopefully only for a while). I am no longer moderating and organising 2 international swaps on Flickr (Scrappy Mug Rug & Doll quilt Swap). I will not be taking on any more special orders for people regarding my craft therefore only sewing what I want to sew, when I want to sew it and with the materials I want to use. I do however have one more order to complete before Christmas.
I will be spending the time I have at home as I would having a paid job. It's not like I laze around doing nothing now, but Sherri really got me thinking about how I value my time. I intend to be even more organised and plan my days better. For those of you who know me, know how I love lists and being organised so I look forward to the challenge.
As for my 2 part-time jobs, for the moment I will be keeping them as the extra money is needed until the middle of next year, then who knows.
Sue I applaud you. I do hope you'll be back at the forum but taking a break when you feel overwhelmed is an excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteIt's like being dumped by a wave at the beach, you'e pulled this way and that and struggling to get air and then you come up and b-r-e-a-t-h-e.
Breathe well my friend.
It is such a good idea to evaluate every now and then.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you! Change is indeed VERY good and oh YES valuing your time is so important. I can't tell you how many times I've declined something because it would take too much time away from my
ReplyDeleteREAL and meaningful work (at home). At all costs I try to preserve margin in my days... so refreshing to not be under the gun all day long... hugs to you!!! :)
Well done Sue. I agree it's important to step back and make changes where needed. No point running around like a crazy woman, you're not happy and the family isn't happy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the change.
