WHAT A WEEK!!!

On Monday we were due to drive off on our holiday to visit family & friends in NSW and then go on to the Gold Coast. We booked our accomodation and theme park tickets last year and obviously, as we couldn't predict the future, had no idea that we wouldn't be able to get there due to flooding. We have lost quite a bit of money due to non refundable tickets etc, but we will try and go again in the next couple of years.

Last week was particularly stressful as we tried to find alternate routes and ways to get there but in the end nothing made sense due to having to travel too far, delays and detours or costing too much money (flying). So we cancelled the trip. The kids were pretty upset but realised that we had done everything we could to go on this holiday.

Lachie captained his team to the grand final for under 12's cricket on Wednesday night. It will be held tomorrow and Sunday against the other West under 12 side, either way West wins.

Today was my last day at work, I'm really excited about becoming a full time homemaker and look forward to the challenges I will be facing. First of all, proving that I can save more money being at home than at outside work.

Over the last 2 weeks I have been slowly going through any emails from shops and unsubscribing to them. Online shopping is a real weakness for me and I've decided that if the advertising isn't in my face I won't be tempted to buy. So far it seems to be working, I'm not browsing sales and haven't gone looking for anything to buy.

So that was my week, how was yours?

  1. That is such a shame about your planned holiday. I hadn't thought about that sort of thing with these darned floods! Cancelling is one thing but losing money really sucks.

I am not a big online shopper because I like to feel the product in my hands before I buy - although I do buy books/DVDs online because you really can't go wrong! It's a good idea of yours to remove that temptation!

I envy you being able to stay at home/work from home. I am still craving some time off in my own home - a weekend is just not long enough!

Enjoy the weekend, I think the weather should be pretty good - I am just having a homey while Gus goes to the Lucindale Field Days with our Land Rovers and Suzuki's.

    Cheers - Joolz

  2. Good news about the last day of your job Sue.

Maybe try Heather's abundance and crowding out with the online shopping? I find it works brilliantly with choosing the right foods and suspect it may apply elsewhere in life, it's such a refreshing approach.

  3. congrats on your new full time job!! I'm a part timer and work part of that from home and like to just be here. Hoping to increase that over the next year. I just like to go for a morning walk, hang some clothes on the line or make some bread some days while I'm working!! I was without a job for a while and it was nice, but then someone wanted me and I didn't have a good reason not to help them out...enjoy. And I agree, if you don't see, you don't want to buy.

  4. Oh Sue, I know how much you were looking forward to that trip :-( I hope you're blessed by the unexpected time at home now, and that it will help you prepare for your (as Karen said) new full time job :-)

  5. Congrats on being at home full time! I compost the flyers that come to the mailbox before I look at them :) Comparison ruins contentment!

I love receiving comments and do try my hardest to comment back, sometimes though, life gets in the way.
