BAKING EVERY DAY

I'm setting myself a goal to bake something every day. I'm doing this for a number of reasons.
* to stop spending extra at the supermarket on baked goods.
* to have fresh snacks every day for the kids at and after school.
* to use up more of our constant egg supply.
* to improve my cooking skills.
* to avoid preservatives, additives and colours.

Yesterday I made a batch of small cakes (yes I know you only see 4, it was yesterday after all)

Today I baked a loaf of bread, the kids will be home from school in an hour and they will demolish it pretty quickly. There's nothing like warm, fresh bread with butter spread on top.

I had a conversation with a friend today who mentioned how thankless baking was because as soon as she made something, it was gone. Maybe my mind-set is different because I don't think it's thankless at all, I love seeing my family gobble down nutritious yummy food and thanking me all the while for making it for them.
What do you think?

  1. Yummy looking treats, Sue. I love a good baking session and like to have a well stocked freezer to pull things out of at a moments notice. Have been very slack lately and the freezer is bare so time to plan another baking day soon. I'm with you in the thankful camp, it's so nice to see the family eat something you made with your own hands. :)

  3. Sue, I agree! I love to see my baked goods disappear. My feelings are HURT if they ARE NOT consumed. And, I loooove to bake. : )

  4. You can get no more thanks than if all of your baking is eaten up. I love baking for my girls.

We have only been home a week and my oven has blown an element so no baking in this house for a week or two until the part arrives.

The bread looks great - bet it didn't last long!

    Cheers - Joolz

I love receiving comments and do try my hardest to comment back, sometimes though, life gets in the way.
